A less addictive phone. Not a worse one.
You pick up your phone for a reason, and the feed gets there first. Sepamo gets there first, with what you came for: the list at the shop, the book at bedtime.
Free on Google Play in the EU and EEA, and the planner is free for a week. If it’s not for you, your old home screen is one setting away.
Sepamo is Android-only for now, so there’s nothing to install on this device.
Made in Finland.
The usual fixes make your phone worse.
- Deleted Instagram. Reinstalled it.
- Set a screen time limit. Tapped past it.
- Paid for a blocker. Switched it off.
- Went grayscale. Stopped noticing.
- Bought a dumbphone. Needed the maps.
They work for a week. Then you need the phone for something real, the fix gets in the way, and it’s the first thing to go.
It was never your willpower. Sepamo goes the other way: it makes your phone better at what you need, so the scroll has less room. Maps, banking, tickets and messages all stay a swipe away. Sepamo only changes what’s in front of you, and when.
How to make your phone less addictive without making it worse
One weekday, six plans.
Someone in Helsinki made each of these from one sentence. Drag through their day and watch the home screen follow.
Their six plans
-
Morning, gently
Weekday mornings, 06:30–08:30→the weather, the sun, the bus app -
Workday
Weekdays, 08:30–12:00→today’s calendar -
Mail after nine
Weekdays, 09:00–17:00→Mail on the home screenOpening Mail before nine→“It can wait until nine.” in the way -
Shopping list
Near a supermarket→the shopping list -
Outside while it’s light
Every day, 14:00 until sunset→“Go outside while it’s light.” -
Read before bed
Every night, 22:00–00:30→Books on the home screenOpening Videos then→“It’s late. You said you’d read instead.”
Nothing is locked unless you ask. One tap closes the words.
Say it, check it, forget it.
-
Say it.
Type or say what you wish your phone did. If Sepamo needs to know something to make it work, like when you’d realistically do it or how much is too much, it asks.
-
Read it before it’s real.
The plan comes back in plain words: what it waits for, and what it does then. Nothing is saved until you say so, and you can change any part of it later.
-
Then forget about it.
It turns up when its moment comes and leaves when it’s passed. Once saved, it runs on your phone the same way every time.
Ask for anything.
There’s no menu of supported requests. If you can say it, try it. The underlined ones play in the phone.
- Get me outside while it’s still light.
- Sauna on Saturday.
- Keep email out of my morning.
- Bins out on Tuesday night.
- Nudge me to journal before bed.
- Warn me when it’s going to rain.
- Show my shopping list at the supermarket.
- Get me off the phone an hour before bed.
- Italian flashcards on my lunch break.
Questions.
Is this another app blocker?
No. When you open an app you said you’d skip, a sentence you wrote is in front of it, and one tap closes it. If you really want an app blocked, ask, and Sepamo blocks that app. Never the whole phone.
Is it a minimalist launcher?
Partly. Like one, it keeps the home screen calm and puts every app in a list a swipe away. Unlike one, it isn’t empty for the sake of it: it shows what you need at that moment, then clears it again.
Does it replace my home screen?
Yes. Sepamo is a home screen app, which is what lets it bring things to you. Every app is still a swipe away, and you can go back to your old home screen in Android’s settings whenever you like.
Is an AI running my phone?
No. AI helps you write a plan, and you read it before it’s saved. After that it runs on your phone without AI. The one exception, a plan that checks the web for you, is labelled as one.
What does it cost?
Making plans yourself, backup, sync and export are free. The AI planner, which writes plans from what you say, comes with Basic or Pro, and Pro can also check the web for you. Whichever you pick, the first week is free: cancel in Google Play before it ends and you pay nothing. After that it’s a monthly subscription, priced in Google Play in your own currency.
What happens to my data?
Your plans are encrypted on your phone and synced through our server in the EU. You can export or delete all of it from Settings without asking us, and we don’t sell anyone’s data. The details are in the privacy policy.
Where can I get it?
On Google Play, for Android in the EU and EEA first. On a phone without Google, like /e/OS or GrapheneOS, download it from us instead.
Finnish your phone.
Install it and say one thing you want from your day.
